Alphabet 26 Designer Bradbury Thompson followed both Bayer and Tschichold in their attempt to create a typeface using only lowercase letters. His Monalphabet of 1940 used only lowercase letters but increased their size at the beginning of sentences and for proper nouns. In 1950, Thompson designed Alphabet 26 in which he combined both upper and lower-case letters to create an alphabet consisting of only 26 signs. Thompson's goal was an attempt at clarity and simplicity.
